Kidlington is the third urban centre at the most southerly point of North Oxfordshire.
Just five miles from Oxford it retains its identity as one of Britain's largest villages
with a prosperous community lifestyle.
The original greystone village serves as a reminder of Kidlington's rural beginnings.
The Domesday book records Kidlington as having a Mill, Manor House and the Church of St Mary the Virgin,
now a grade I listed building. The church is worth a visit to see its fine medieval glass,
the spire (known as ‘Our Lady’s Needle’ and the accomplished woodwork.
One of the best historic buildings to see is the Old Rectory with its 16th century
stone mullion windows and paired diagonal chimney stacks.
The county's Fire Service and Police headquarters are in Kidlington.
Oxford airport is also on the outskirts of the village.
Modern Kidlington is a mix of the old and the new.
Thriving shops, restaurants and pubs create a great atmosphere and make it an enjoyable place to be.
